Bantu Announces XMPP and IPv6 Compliance

Falls Church, VA - September 20, 2006 - Bantu, a premier provider of secure Enterprise Instant Messaging (EIM) to the Federal Government, today announced support for Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) and Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol (XMPP). These additions highlight a commitment to enabling broad interoperability within and across disparate government organizations.

"The federal government and commercial markets are pushing hard to deploy IPv6 as a key component to the next generation of internet communication", said Larry Schlang, CEO of Bantu. "Bantu’s support of these two protocols demonstrates our commitment to emerging standards and enabling our military, government and commercial customers to communicate seamlessly within and across organizations."

XMPP is the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) formalization of the Extensible Markup Language (XML) streaming protocols for instant messaging. Within the government, for example, there are workgroups that leverage XMPP-based tools for instant messaging. Bantu’s support for these next-generation protocols, combined with extensive search and locating capabilities, will enable the over 3.5 million military and government personnel to communicate and collaborate in real-time.

IPv6 is the next generation of internet protocol designed by the IETF to replace the current version IPv4. Federal agency IPv6 migration has been mandated by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) by 2008. IPv6 supports a vastly increased IP address space, has capabilities for improved network administration, and mandates standardized security features. As an early IPv6 adopter, Bantu customers will be able to start leveraging the enhanced services offered by the protocol as federal agencies transition their network infrastructures.

"By proactively meeting IPv6 compliance with Bantu’s cross-agency communication platform, the company is at the forefront of helping federal agencies meet the mandated IPv6 transition well in advance of the 2008 deadline", said Tom Patterson, CEO of Command Information, the largest and fastest growing IPv6 solutions provider in the United States.
